Smart cities will form the foundation of countries' digital infrastructures in the future - Deputy Head of Main Department of Azerbaijan's SSSCI

In the near future, the foundation of countries' digital infrastructures will be formed precisely by smart cities, said Deputy Head of the Main Department of the State Service of Special Communication and Information Security (SSSCI), Tural Mammadov, during the “Critical Infrastructure Defence Challenge 2025” (CIDC-2025) event held in Baku, APA-Economics reports.

He noted that everything from energy management systems to transportation networks, from healthcare to education systems, is becoming digitalized. “The smart city” concept brings numerous advantages to our lives: transportation infrastructure, energy supply, communication systems, water provision, and public services – all are managed more efficiently, flexibly, and conveniently. However, each of these systems is a potential target in cyberspace.

“Cyberwarfare in Smart Cities”: – it is the simulation of virtual defense and attack scenarios, the practical analysis of risks related to the disruption of critical information infrastructures, the testing of skills to prevent them, and the management of systems in crisis situations,” said Tural Mammadov.
