Within the framework of satellite communication services provided by the Azerbaijan Space Agency (Azercosmos), Starlink technology is in some cases considered as an additional and backup communication solution, Azercosmos said this in response to an inquiry from APA-Economics.
It was noted that, particularly in maritime projects, offering Starlink to customers as an alternative communication tool alongside primary satellite services contributes to ensuring communication continuity.
This approach is aimed at providing customers with more reliable and uninterrupted communication capabilities, based on the principle of different technological solutions complementing one another.
It was also noted that Starlink is one of the new-generation communication technologies that provides internet access via a low-Earth orbit satellite constellation. This solution offers alternative opportunities for ensuring internet access, especially in regions where terrestrial infrastructure is limited or unavailable.
The main advantages of the service include global coverage, relatively high speed, and low latency. These features create additional opportunities for applications that require real-time communication. At the same time, the portability of the system enables rapid internet access during temporary and mobile operations.
Recall that in March of last year, services of the global satellite communication system Starlink were officially launched in Azerbaijan. In June, the Ministry of Digital Development and Transport officially registered Starlink Azerbaijan LLC.
