Zelenskyy: Azerbaijani citizen killed in Russian attack on Kyiv region

An Azerbaijani citizen was among two people killed in a Russian attack on the Kyiv region, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said on X, APA reports.

Zelenskyy said Russia had been attacking Ukrainian regions throughout the night and into the morning.

According to him, a high-rise apartment building was struck in Kharkiv, with its second and fourth floors partially destroyed. Kyiv also sustained damage from drone attacks, including to residential buildings, communications infrastructure and gas stations. A café was destroyed and an attempt was made to set fire to a food market in the capital.

In the Odesa region, a vessel flying the Palau flag was struck, while an ice cream factory was damaged in the Zhytomyr region.

Residential buildings were also hit in the Sumy, Rivne, Kharkiv and Odesa regions, while critical infrastructure was attacked in the Vinnytsia, Dnipro, Khmelnytskyi and Zaporizhzhia regions.

Zelenskyy said emergency services were working wherever needed.

According to the Ukrainian President, dozens of people have been reported injured so far. The strike on Kharkiv alone injured 28 people, including nine children.

“Tragically, lives have been lost. Two people were killed in the Kyiv region, one of them a citizen of Azerbaijan. My condolences to their families and loved ones,” Zelenskyy said.
