Tehran condemns the violence against the Palestinian people, and Israel continues to threaten global security, said Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif.

He made the remarks at the NAM Mid-Term Ministerial Conference, titled “Promoting international peace and security for sustainable development”, in Baku on Thursday, APA reports.

Zarif noted that violation of stability in the East leads to extremism and violence.

Tehran urges an immediate end to the blockade of the Gaza Strip by Israel, the top diplomat said, adding. “We condemn the killings of civilians, including women and children in Palestine. We want an international tribunal to be established to fully restore the rights of the Palestinians and free Palestine from occupation.”

Zarif underlined the importance of cooperation, mutual respect, as well as hegemony avoidance for preventing the threat of terrorism in the region. “Despite the fight against ISIL, Syria and Iraq still suffer from the actions of this terrorist group.”

Iran’s top diplomat emphasized that the U.S. fails to fulfill its obligations on international security.

“The allocation by the U.S. government of $1.2 trillion for the development of nuclear weapons gives serious reasons for concern about a new nuclear threat,” he added.
