Turkey’s Embassy in Baku on Monday hosted an event marking the defeated 15 July 2016 coup attempt in Turkey.
The event was attended by Turkish Ambassador Erkan Ozoral, Azerbaijani President’s Assistant for Public and Political Affairs Ali Hasanov, MPs, media representatives and other guests, APA reports.
First, a film about the events of July 15 in Turkey was demonstrated.
Turkish Ambassador to Azerbaijan Erkan Ozoral then made a speech at the event.
“On 15 July 2016, the Turkish people announced to the whole world that they would not accept the decision of someone. The July 15 defeated coup is part of our national history. Nobody can chain the Turkish people. As long as the world exists, this nation will defend its state and motherland. Those responsible for the coup attempt in Turkey used Islam for their purposes,” the diplomat said.
He stressed that there are also traitors in Azerbaijan who try to commit terrorist acts under the guise of Islam.
“Everyone must know that Azerbaijan and Turkey have power to eliminate these predators. We will all witness the elimination of all dishonest people, including FETO members. This day is not far off,” the Turkish ambassador said.
Addressing the event, Azerbaijani President's Assistant for Public and Political Affairs Ali Hasanov noted that the Azerbaijani people and president watched the July 15 events with excitement, and expressed support to the government of Turkey.
“I think that while the Turkish people are alive, the memory of 250 martyrs will be honored with respect. Long live the Turkey-Azerbaijan friendship!” he added.
