"During the second official visit of our President Nicolas Maduro to Azerbaijan in October 2019, the chairmanship to the Non-Aligned Movement (NaM) was handed over to Azerbaijan," said Christopher Alberto Martinez Berrotera, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela to Azerbaijan in an interview with APA.
Mr. Ambassador said that every country in the period of its temporary chairmanship period tries to make great contributions to the strengthening of the Non-aligned movement: "We highly appreciate Azerbaijan’s initiatives in the new spheres of NaM. I would like to especially note two of them among numerous initiatives. First of all, it is the issue of establishment of a Parliamentarian Network within the framework of NaM, which is namely Azerbaijan's initiative. The second is the establishment of the Youth Network of NaM. I would also like to note the role of Venezuelan youth in the establishment of the Youth Network of NaM"
While answering the question regarding “Azerbaijan took over the chairmanship from Venezuela in the Non-Aligned Movement. How do you evaluate Azerbaijan's chairmanship to the mentioned organization?” the Diplomat noted that those initiatives further strengthen this movement and increase its prestige in the world: "Venezuela, as a member of the trio in NaM, highly appreciates the works done by Azerbaijan during its chairmanship."
