It is important to find long-term solutions to jointly adapt to new risks, Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev said at the Informal Consultative Meeting of the Presidents of Azerbaijan and the Central Asian countries, APA's correspondent dispatched to Kyrgyzstan reports.
"It is time to establish a sustainable architecture of regional cooperation. This system should be based on effective cooperation institutions, close interaction among sectoral bodies, direct interregional contacts, and long-term joint programs in key areas of development. We must further strengthen our region's international standing by enhancing coordination within interstate organizations and the 'Central Asia+' format. It is important to take concrete steps to expand trade, economic and transport ties, establish integrated industrial and technological chains, develop common digital services, and launch investment platforms.
Central Asia should become a competitive center for education, science, innovation, and Big Data. This can be achieved by creating a unified system that combines human capital, artificial intelligence technologies, data centers, and energy infrastructure.
Environmental protection will continue to remain one of the key priorities of the regional agenda. The challenges facing our shared natural environment do not recognize state borders. Therefore, our responses to them must also be collective. The abnormally high temperatures observed this summer once again demonstrated that climate change has already become a factor directly affecting the economy, water and energy security, people's health, and quality of life. It is important to find long-term solutions to jointly adapt to these new risks," the Uzbek president said.
