The United States supports the peace process in the South Caucasus, the U.S. embassy in Azerbaijan said in a statement regarding the meeting between the U.S. Under Secretary of State for Political Affairs Allison Hooker and Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov, APA reports.
"U.S. Under Secretary of State for Political Affairs Allison Hooker met today with Minister of Foreign Affairs Jeyhun Bayramov to discuss our new strategic partnership and advance President Trump's vision for peace and prosperity in the South Caucasus. She congratulated Azerbaijan and Armenia on the historic August meeting between President Donald J. Trump, President Ilham Aliyev, and Nikol Pashinyan – an important milestone that, combined with further progress toward a full peace treaty, creates new opportunities for reconciliation, long-term stability, and economic prosperity," the statement reads.
