The United States President is paying attention to Azerbaijan, and this is as beneficial for you as it is for us, John E. Herbst, senior director of the Atlantic Council's Eurasia Center, told journalists, APA reports.
“If the United States is responsible for the Trump Corridor and oversees its operation, then difficult issues related to extraterritoriality are set aside. In my view, this is a major contribution to peace in the South Caucasus. The corridor is intended to serve as a driver of trade and investment for Azerbaijan, Armenia, Türkiye, and even Central Asia — as part of the Middle Corridor that envisions transporting goods from Central Asia to European markets. I believe this is the most significant contribution the Trump team has made not only to relations with Azerbaijan, but also with Armenia and Türkiye,” he said.
According to the expert, there are other directions as well: “As you know, the United States has been very active in developing Azerbaijan’s oil production. The U.S. was the main initiator of the multi-pipeline policy to ensure that Azerbaijani oil could reach world markets without being affected by Russia. This has been extremely important for Azerbaijan’s prosperity for more than 30 years and will continue to be so.
There is no doubt that Azerbaijan is in the focus of the U.S. President’s attention, and this is very good for you, and also very good for us — the United States. It is encouraging that the high-level leadership in Washington is paying positive and meaningful attention to the South Caucasus, Azerbaijan, and Central Asia.”
