"The 907th Amendment to the Freedom Support Act of the US Congress is in force. However, it did not prevent us from providing Azerbaijan with very important security support. We have provided more than $ 100 million in financial support to Azerbaijan in this area. These funds are mainly directed to the security of the southern borders of Azerbaijan," said US Ambassador to Azerbaijan Lee Litzenberger at a briefing, APA reports.
The ambassador stressed that the final decision on the 907th amendment belongs to the US Congress: "However I am optimistic that the opportunity for Azerbaijan and Armenia to achieve lasting peace - which we observe progress in this direction - will allow us to significantly reconsider our relations with the countries of the South Caucasus."
