“30 years ago Azerbaijan joined the UN, after several months the UN opened an office in Azerbaijan. During the past 30 years, this cooperation developed. Azerbaijan became an active member of the UN, “ said UN Resident Coordinator in Azerbaijan Vladanka Andreeva, APA reports.
“The form of cooperation changed, we provided humanitarian support to Azerbaijan. Azerbaijan was a country with hundreds of thousands of IDPs emerging from the conflict. However, economic and human capital developed in the country, poverty reduced, the unemployment rate decreased. Azerbaijan contributed to the UN. As a member of UN Security Council and the chair of NAM supported multilateralism.”
UN Resident Coordinator noted that Azerbaijan and the UN approved action plans in 4 directions.
“Action plan for 2021-2025 between Azerbaijan and the UN has been approved, 4 main directions considered. Inclusive development, strong institutions, environmental protection, and strengthening women's participation in all areas. Today this meeting will allow us to discuss cooperation, to discuss these directions.”
