UN GA President addresses the Youth Summit of Non-Aligned Movement

"We appreciate the activity of the government of Azerbaijan for the organization of Youth Summit of the Non-Aligned Movement," said President of the UN General Assembly Abdulla Shahid in his address to participants of the Youth Summit of Non-Aligned Movement in Baku at an opening ceremony, APA reports.

He has stressed that youth should play an active role in the solution of global challenges from the COVID-19 pandemic to climate change. Abdulla Shahid has noted that youth contributes to the development of global sustainability.

Abdulla Shahid has added that he hopes for the active participation of youth in the post-pandemic restoration period.

UN GA President has also noted the participation of youth on global platforms and said that inclusiveness and difference have been more important in the UN and its institutions now: “Non-Aligned Movement suggests a platform for youth from different points of the world in the direction of participation and cultural exchange and it is significant.”

President has stressed that global platforms including the UN should present opportunities for youth.

Abdulla Shahid wished for productive discussion and exchange of views to youth at the end of his address.
