“Azerbaijan was by our side from the very first minutes of the February 6 earthquake,” Ali Hamza Pahlivan, head of Türkiye’s Disaster and Emergency Management Authority (AFAD), told APA’s correspondent dispatched to Ankara.
Türkiye and Azerbaijan confirm that they are one nation, two states in every field. Azerbaijan was with us from the first minutes during the February 6 earthquake. Azerbaijan supported both search and rescue operations and later contributed to the construction of buildings in Kahramanmaraş, and a residential neighborhood was built with the support of Azerbaijan. The presidents of Azerbaijan and Türkiye attended the opening ceremony of that neighborhood together," Ali Hamza Pahlivan noted.
He noted that last week a delegation of the Azerbaijani Ministry of Emergency Situations visited AFAD: "Continuous mutual visits, exchange of experience, joint trainings are being held. Our close cooperation with Azerbaijan in terms of reducing risks related to natural disasters and eliminating the consequences of natural disasters continues. We are grateful to our Azerbaijani brothers."
