“Turkiye always stands by Azerbaijan. It stood by Azerbaijan during the war, and stands by it in today’s peace condition too,” said Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu while responding to the questions of the journalists after Azerbaijan, Turkiye, and Turkmenistan summit, APA’s Istanbul correspondent reports.
According to him, there are many works to be done for the development of the liberated areas from the occupation.
“On the other side, the reason for the establishment of the Lachin corridor is obvious. Russia has a duty to protect peace there. But on the other hand, the illegal extraction and sale of the wealth of Azerbaijan in its own land is against international law and means the theft of the wealth of Azerbaijan. On the one hand, there are uncontrolled environmental problems, and the prevention of people going there as observers is an indication of the severity of the violations,” he noted.
Cavusoglu added that the Russian side should cooperate with Azerbaijan in this issue, Armenians living in the areas where Russian peacekeepers are temporarily stationed should not prevent these checks:
"Here the main duty falls on the Russians because they are also responsible for the normal functioning of the Lachin corridor. In this matter, Azerbaijan is right both from the legal point of view and from the point of view of opposing illegal activities fairly. Therefore, we support Azerbaijan in this just struggle".
