Three years pass from April battles

Three years pass from the historic victories of the Azerbaijani Army in the April battles of 2016, ONA reports.

In response to the provocations of the Armenian armed forces on April 2, 2016, the Azerbaijani Army conducted a rapid counterattack, defeating the enemy and liberating more than 2,000 hectares of the occupied territories in Fuzuli, Jabrayil and Aghdere regions.

Also, thousands of hectares of lands were taken under control of the Azerbaijani Army.

The counterattack of the Azerbaijani Army was aimed to eliminate the threat caused by the Armenian armed forces to Azerbaijani settlements on the line of contact.

Starting from March 2016, the Armenian armed forces were intensively firing at the contact line settlements. On the night from April 1 to April 2, the Armenian armed forces were shelling all the Azerbaijani army positions, as well as civilians. So, the Azerbaijani side made the decision to immediately take adequate measures and conducted resolute counterstrikes, destroying the Armenian army’s personnel and military equipment.

The resolute strikes of the Azerbaijani army destroyed up to 30 tanks, over 25 artillery units and other equipment of the Armenian armed forces. Also 320 servicemen of Armenia were killed and over 500 were wounded.

In the four-day April battles, the Azerbaijani Army brought the happiness of victory to the people of Azerbaijan after 23 years.
