Speaker: European Parliament has continued its biased practice

The European Parliament has continued its non-objective and biased practice against Azerbaijan that runs counter to the principles of international law, said Speaker of the Milli Majlis Sahiba Gafarova at today’s parliamentary session, APA reports.

“We are convinced that sustainable development and the protection of human rights and freedoms can only be ensured within the framework of national law and under conditions of strict respect for sovereign powers. With this step, the European Parliament has continued its non-objective and biased practice against Azerbaijan that contradicts the principles of international law, and the resolution does not reflect the real situation in Azerbaijan. This resolution demonstrates the European Parliament’s disregard for the principles of respect for state sovereignty and non-interference in internal affairs. We categorically reject the references and other accusations contained in the document regarding political prisoners, political persecution, and violations of academic and cultural rights. Azerbaijan adheres to the principles of the rule of law, state independence, and accountability to its citizens,” the speaker emphasized.
