“30th anniversary of relations between Azerbaijan and the UN, UN-Azerbaijan partnership is marked in Shusha city, Azerbaijan’s cultural capital,” said Assistant to Azerbaijani President Hikmat Hajiyev, APA reports.

According to H. Hajiyev, Azerbaijan was a member of the UN in March 1992 and after 2 months Shusha was occupied by Armenia: “During this period, occupied city of Shusha was destroyed. However, as a result of Azerbaijan’s victory in the Patriotic War, as our other cities, other territories, Shusha was also liberated. Today, Shusha, along with being Azerbaijan’s cultural capital, in the coming period, plays a role of a diplomatic center for discussing UN-Azerbaijan relations. It has very big political, diplomatic, at the same time symbolic meaning.”
