Azerbaijan-China trade turnover reached USD 2.6 billion in the first seven months of 2026, Deputy Prime Minister Shahin Mustafayev said at an event marking the 77th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China, APA reports.
He recalled that during President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev’s state visit to China in April 2025, a Joint Statement on the establishment of a comprehensive strategic partnership between the two countries was signed.
According to Shahin Mustafayev, a number of mutual visits between Azerbaijan and China have taken place this year at the level of foreign ministers, interparliamentary relations, prosecutor general’s offices, and defense ministries.
The Deputy Prime Minister emphasized that the Azerbaijan-China Intergovernmental Commission on Trade and Economic Cooperation plays an important role in the practical implementation of the tasks set.
Shahin Mustafayev said that trade and economic cooperation between Azerbaijan and China is developing steadily and demonstrating growing dynamics.
“China is one of our country’s leading economic and trade partners. Azerbaijan, in turn, is China’s largest trading partner in the South Caucasus region,” he said.
The Deputy Prime Minister noted that in the first seven months of 2026, trade turnover between Azerbaijan and China increased by 4.5% compared to the same period last year, reaching USD 2.6 billion.
