Resolution, put forward by Azerbaijan against "vaccine nationalism", adopted in UN GA

As a chairman of the Non-Aligned Movement, Azerbaijan continues its global leadership in the direction of mobilization of the international public in the fight against the pandemic, APA reports.

Delivering a speech in the 76th session of the UN General Assembly on September 24, 2021, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev once more criticized “vaccine nationalism”, inequality among poor and rich countries regarding access to vaccines and announced that a resolution would be put forward by Azerbaijan on behalf of the Non-Aligned Movement in the UN General Assembly on the provision of equal opportunities for all countries for vaccine usage.

The resolution, put forward by Azerbaijan on behalf of the Non-Aligned Movement on equal, affordable, timely, and universal access to vaccines against COVID-19 was adopted in the UN General Assembly on December 16, 2021, with the support of 179 countries.

The international community once more showed its support to the initiatives of President Ilham Aliyev against the COVID-19 pandemic, “vaccine nationalism” with the adoption of the resolution.
