Rector of the Moscow University for Humanities responds to protest letter of Azerbaijan Embassy

On November 26, 2022, Ambassador Polad Bulbuloglu sent a protest letter to the rector of Moscow University for Humanities, Igor Ilyinsky, through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation regarding a biased statement against our country, the Head of the Department of Diplomacy and International Relations of the Moscow University for Humanities, former head of the Armenian Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, Nikolay Platoshkin in a video interview posted on the "Bagramyan 26" telegram channel, APA reports.

In this regard, on December 29, 2022, the Embassy received a reply letter from the rector of the Moscow Humanities University, Igor Ilyinsky.

In the letter, the rector informed that a criminal case was opened against the abovementioned person by the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation on June 2, 2020, under Article 212, Clause 1.1 (mass riots) and 207.1 (deliberate dissemination of false information to the public) of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation. The letter also states that in accordance with the court's decision and the legal ban on teaching activities of persons under investigation or convicted, N. Platoshkin's work activity was suspended from the moment of his arrest, and the employees and students of the University did not have any contact with him.

“In accordance with Article 77, Clause 1, Part 3 of the Labor Code of the Russian Federation, the person mentioned above was dismissed from the position of the head of the Department of Diplomacy and International Relations of the Moscow Humanitarian University on October 14, 2021, and was expelled from the University,” the letter reads.

In his letter, I. Ilyinsky especially emphasized that he has a warm attitude towards Azerbaijan and its people and that during the 29 years of his work as a rector, he did not encounter any cases of inciting inter-ethnic relations at the University he led.
