Azerbaijan consistently defends human rights, Ramesh Singh Arora, Minister of Human Rights and Minority Affairs of the Punjab Government told journalists as part of the international conference titled “Racism and Violence Against Sikhs and Other National Minorities in India: The Reality on the Ground,” dedicated to the Indian government’s repressive policies against ethnic minorities and organized by the Baku Initiative Group, APA reports.

“Looking at the recent events in India, the situation is extremely concerning. Today, Muslims are suffering — both Muslims in Kashmir and Muslims in Gujarat. Christians are also in the same situation. Over 700 incidents were recorded in India on the eve of the last Christmas, during which the Christian community was not allowed to freely perform their religious rituals. I would like to express my gratitude to the Baku Initiative Group in connection with today’s event. I am thankful to the executive director and to the people of Azerbaijan, especially the media representatives. The extensive participation of media representatives shows that you are always on the side of defending human rights. I thank each of you for giving me this opportunity,” the minister said.
