A trilateral meeting of the Prosecutor Generals of Russia, Armenia and Azerbaijan was held in St. Petersburg, Russia, the website of the Prosecutor General's Office of Russia announced, APA's Moscow bureau reports.
It was reported that addressing the trilateral meeting, Russian Federation Prosecutor General Igor Krasnov stated that holding the meeting in the Tavrida Palace, where many fateful decisions were made in the last century, offered the meeting every opportunity for success.
The meeting was the fifth in a similar format since 2021. The Russian-Armenian-Azerbaijani Prosecutor Generals met in Moscow in December 2022, and the chiefs of the prosecutor's offices of Russia, Armenia, and Azerbaijan discussed the opportunities for cooperation.
Igor Krasnov, who welcomed both sides' willingness to continue the professional dialogue, praised them both for their constructive attitude to establishing future cooperation.
"As you know, the next meeting of the heads of our states took place less than a month ago. The leaders of Azerbaijan, Armenia and Russia agreed on the development of mutually acceptable solutions to a number of urgent issues related to the normalization of life support in the border region. In this regard, I consider it extremely important that we continue constant contact, follow the course of implementation of the agreements reached in order to fulfil the tasks of ensuring peace, security and sustainable economic development in the region, and stabilizing Azerbaijan-Armenia relations," Krasnov stressed.
The Prosecutor General of Russia noted that such measures are a clear example of a civil solution to even the most difficult tasks, contributing to the achievement of the goals of restoring order, normalizing the life of the civilian population, and preventing threats to security. In this regard, I propose to further synchronize our actions, using the potential of the prosecutor for the protection of human rights, focusing first on the interests of citizens. Personally, I and all my subordinates, including military prosecutors stationed in the border areas, will continue to provide the necessary assistance to ensure constructive interaction between the Azerbaijani and Armenian sides. At the same time, I see the prevention of the increase in tension as the main task. I am sure that with joint efforts, we will be able to create a harmonious development of the region, safe conditions and a decent life for all who live there."
