"Today, what happened in 1915 is being called "genocide" deliberately, however, investigating this is not the job of politicians but historians," the Ambassador of Türkiye to Azerbaijan Cahit Bağcı said at a conference on "So-called Armenian Genocide: Allegations and Realities" held at the Azerbaijan State University of Economics, APA reports.
"Although Türkiye proposed to establish a joint commission in 2005 to investigate those events, Armenia has still not responded to this proposal. On the contrary, it was succesful in getting this matter recognized in the parliaments of some states. This proposal is still on the agenda. It should not be forgotten that currently, Türkiye is a powerful state in all platforms with the centenary goal it set," - the Ambassador added.
