Azerbaijan supports the concept of regional ownership, which envisages that problems in the region should be resolved by the countries of the region themselves, said Assistant to the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan and Head of the Foreign Policy Affairs Department of the Presidential Administration Hikmat Hajiyev during his speech at a panel session held within the framework of the 5th Antalya Diplomacy Forum, APA’s correspondent dispatched to Antalya reports.
Hikmat Hajiyev stated that in a period of global instability and a disrupted international order, international platforms are of great importance: “Such meetings are essential for jointly discussing global challenges and problems.”
He noted that for Azerbaijan, regional ownership implies that issues concerning the region should be resolved without external interference, with the direct participation of the countries of the region: “We believe that we should solve problems ourselves, together with our partners in the region, and not allow externally imposed approaches.”
The presidential aide emphasized that regional ownership also means shared responsibility and leadership: “We share this responsibility with friendly and brotherly countries in the region and expand cooperation.”
According to him, Azerbaijan builds cooperation through diplomacy and dialogue in both bilateral and multilateral formats.
