Preparation of Azerbaijan–U.S. Strategic Partnership Charter nearing completion

We consider 2025 to be a very positive year in the context of Azerbaijan–U.S. relations, said Azerbaijan’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Jeyhun Bayramov, at a press conference summarizing the results of the year, APA reports.

The minister noted that within a short period after the start of Donald Trump’s presidency, a fundamental shift occurred and very serious changes took place in Azerbaijan–U.S. relations: “There has already been very significant progress and very serious positive changes. On August 8, a memorandum of understanding was signed to establish a Working Group with very specific objectives. The formation of this Working Group is related to the preparation of a Strategic Partnership Charter between the United States of America and Azerbaijan. The areas to be covered in this document have been very clearly defined. Very intensive work has been carried out over these months for this purpose. Numerous bilateral meetings have been held on specific areas and topics. I believe that we are close to the final text and will present to our leaders an agreed draft document that will lay the foundation for very promising and mutually beneficial cooperation between the two countries. I would also like to note that we are talking about a very large amount of work accomplished in the first year of Donald Trump’s presidency. At least the next three years in relations between the United States and Azerbaijan are expected with great optimism. The development of relations with Azerbaijan is beneficial for many reasons and should be beneficial not only for Azerbaijan but also for the United States. From this perspective, we do not see any objective conditions for a change in such a course in the future. We believe that we will have very strong momentum in bilateral cooperation with the United States in the coming years.”
