PAM Bureau approves application to grant observer status to Azerbaijan

At a Bureau meeting of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Mediterranean (PAM), an application regarding the granting of observer status to the Milli Majlis was approved, said Chairperson of the Milli Majlis Sahiba Gafarova during her meeting with PAM President Giulio Centemero as part of her working visit to the United Arab Emirates (UAE), the Press and Public Relations Department of the Milli Majlis told APA.

During the meeting, the Speaker of the Milli Majlis spoke about the importance of the 2nd session of PAM’s Women Parliamentarians Forum and noted that the Azerbaijani Parliament is interested in expanding cooperation with this organization.

Sahiba Gafarova expressed satisfaction with the approval of the application for granting observer status to the Milli Majlis at yesterday’s PAM Bureau meeting and voiced confidence that once the final decision is made, this status will create new opportunities for the development of inter-parliamentary relations.

PAM President Giulio Centemero emphasized that PAM is also interested in cooperation with Azerbaijan.

The conversation also touched upon cooperation between the QHPS and PAM, as well as the granting of mutual observer statuses. It was noted that discussing similar issues in both organizations creates good opportunities for cooperation.

During the discussion, PAM President Giulio Centemero provided information about the issues addressed by the organization and its activities.
