Today, the opening of Türkiye-Azerbaijan solidarity week was held in Ankara, APA reports.

The opening ceremony of the event organized by the Türkiye-Azerbaijan Friendship, Cooperation and Solidarity Foundation was addressed by Aygün Attar, head of the Foundation.

Aygun Attar said that the goal of the solidarity week started today in Türkiye is to further strengthen this friendship and brotherhood, and drew attention to the fact that this event was held on the eve of the 100th anniversary of the establishment of the Republic of Türkiye and the birth of Heydar Aliyev.

Ankara University Rector Necdat Ünüvar spoke about the Türkiye-Azerbaijani friendship in his speech. Necdat Ünüvar, recalling Nariman Narimanov's response to Atatürk's thanks for the aid, saying, "Brother does not owe a brother", also recalled that Azerbaijan President Ilham Aliyev responded to the Armenian leadership's anti-Turkey speech in Prague by saying, "Türkiye is not here, I am."

Adil Aliyev, the deputy chairman of the Azerbaijan Milli Majlis, spoke about Türkiye's support for the Karabakh victory and the Shusha Declaration.

Adil Aliyev noted that the friendship between Türkiye and Azerbaijan is more than the relationship between the two countries. He noted that Azerbaijan did not leave the region even after the earthquake, and will participate in the reconstruction and construction of the region.

Ziyafat Asgarov, chairman of the committee of the Azerbaijan Milli Majlis, spoke about the historical roles of Atatürk and Heydar Aliyev. Speaking about the artificial introduction of Armenians to Karabakh, Ziyafat Askerov emphasized Türkiye's support for Azerbaijan in the Karabakh war.

"The Shusha Declaration gave the status of alliance to our brotherhood," Z. Asgarov added, regretting the existence of forces opposed to a strong Türkiye.

The head of APA Media Group, Vüsala Mahirgizi, spoke about the importance of Türkiye for the Turkic and Islamic world: "Türkiye's developing defense industry not only ended terrorism in these regions, but also played an important role in the victorious conclusion of the war in Karabakh. The strong will of the two leaders and Turkish-Azerbaijani friendship are capable of overcoming all difficulties."

Vusala Mahirgizi noted that Türkiye is already an important maritime country for the region: "Türkiye's role in the region is undeniable not only for the Turkic world, but also for the region and the world. We saw this most clearly in the Russia-Ukraine war. Türkiye has become a voice in this region. No decision is made in this region without Türkiye and Azerbaijan."

Hijran Huseynova, chairman of the committee of the Milli Majlis, recalled the visits of Turkish President Erdogan to Karabakh. She spoke about the works of Heydar Aliyev and currently President Ilham Aliyev regarding Zangezur.

Rector of TED University, Professor Ihsan Sabuncuoglu also emphasized the importance of turning the current solidarity into cooperation after the Karabakh war.

Rector noted that TED University wants to give scholarships to 4 students from the families of martyrs and veterans from Azerbaijan.

Head of the Eurasian Writers' Union, Yakup Omaroglu, said that one issue of the union's magazine was dedicated to the earthquake that occurred in Türkiye, which is considered the "Catastrophe of the Century".

Karabakh veteran Ahliyat Mehdiyev also spoke about the Karabakh war. He recalled that during the earthquake, they worked together with 200 young people in the earthquake area for 1 month: "We fought in the earthquake region as in the Karabakh war."

Note that a number of events are planned within the Turkey-Azerbaijan solidarity week.

The delegation from Azerbaijan participating in the events included the Deputy Speaker of the Milli Majlis Adil Aliyev, the Chairman of the Defense, Security and Anti-Corruption Committee of the Parliament Ziyafat Askerov, the head of APA Media Group Vusala Mahirgizi, the singer Azerin, the Chairman of the Discharged Military Education Public Union Emin Hasanli, veteran Ahliyat Mehdiyev, sector manager of Social Research Center Afgan Valiyev, and other persons.
