Birol Akgün, incoming Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Turkiye to Azerbaijan, visited the National Leader Heydar Aliyev's grave and the Alley of Martyrs today, APA reports.
The ambassador first arrived at the Alley of Honor, where he respectfully commemorated the memory of National Leader Heydar Aliyev and laid a wreath at his grave.
The memory of the prominent ophthalmologist-scientist, academician Zarifa Aliyeva was also respectfully honored.
Later, the diplomat visited the Alley of Martyrs, where he paid tribute to the heroes who sacrificed their lives for the freedom and sovereignty of Azerbaijan, placed fresh flowers on their graves, and visited the Eternal Flame monument.
Afterward, Birol Akgün visited the Turkish Martyrdom monument at the Alley of Martyrs, dedicated to the memory of the heroic Turkish soldiers who died in the battles for the liberation of Baku from the Bolshevik-Armenian Dashnak forces in 1918, and laid a wreath at the monument.
