NATO will continue to support efforts towards normalization of relations between Azerbaijan, Armenia

"We will continue to support the efforts towards normalization of the relations between Azerbaijan and Armenia," NATO Secretary General’s Special Representative for the Caucasus and Central Asia Javier Colomina said in an interview with Georgia's First Channel, APA reports.

Noting that he has met with the Foreign Ministers of Azerbaijan and Armenia recently, he added that he has also met with the leaders of the countries in different moments.

Touching upon the role of a possible agreement for the South Caucasus region, the NATO official noted that he is quite optimistic about the joint declaration that was signed by Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev:

"We believe it’s very good news. We have been very supportive of the normalization of relations between Armenia and Azerbaijan. We’ve been supporting the efforts towards that normalization coming from the European Union or from the United States or the ones that have been carried out by Armenia and Azerbaijan bilaterally," Javier Colomina added.

"We will continue to support those and hope for the best," Colomina stressed.
