Moscow hosts an event dedicated to 100th anniversary of distinguished ophthalmologist scientist Zarifa Aliyeva-PHOTO

On April 27, the Embassy of Azerbaijan in Russia together with the Russian representative office of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation organized an event dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the distinguished ophthalmologist, and academician of the Azerbaijan Academy of Sciences, Professor Zarifa Aliyeva, APA's Moscow bureau reports.

Representatives of the diplomatic corps accredited in Moscow, the Russian public and diaspora, activists of the Russian Azerbaijani Youth Union and Azerbaijani students studying in Moscow attended the event.

At the beginning of the event, the performances of the People's Artist of the Republic of Azerbaijan Mansum Ibrahimov and the "Gaya" group were heard.

Ambassador Polad Bulbuloglu addressed the audience of guests about Mrs Zarifa Aliyeva's rich and colourful life path. Noting that she had a chance to get to know her personally, the ambassador stressed that Zarifa Aliyeva is a multifaceted and bright person, who loves music, culture, and art very much, plays the piano herself, and helps many people by being a wonderful doctor.

Polad Bulbuloglu said that another important feature of Mrs Zarifa is that she is the wife of Heydar Aliyev, a prominent statesman and politician, the genius son of the Azerbaijani people.

The ambassador informed the guests that a number of events are being held in Moscow these days in connection with the 100th anniversary of the National Leader of the Azerbaijani people, Heydar Aliyev. In this context, the construction of BAM was mentioned, and Heydar Aliyev had a decisive role in its completion.

It was said that even today, in the institute where Mrs Zarifa Aliyeva defended her doctoral dissertation, she is remembered well as a truly talented scientist, a great organizer, and a very purposeful woman, and they speak extremely well about her.
