Milli Majlis holds meeting with US delegation

On January 31, members of the professional staff of the majority of the U.S. House of Representatives Committee on Foreign Affairs visited the Milli Majlis (Azerbaijani Parliament), the Press and Public Relations Department of the Milli Majlis told APA.

According to the information, Chairman of the Milli Majlis Committee on International Relations and Interparliamentary Ties, head of the working group on interparliamentary relations with the U.S., Samad Seyidov shared his views on the history of Azerbaijan–U.S. relations, current areas of cooperation, and future development prospects.

It was emphasized that today the determination to elevate relations to the level of strategic partnership is clearly reflected in the joint statements of the parties and in the practical steps taken.

During the meeting, the significance of the “Trump Route for International Peace and Prosperity” was noted, and it was stated that the implementation of this initiative with the support of the United States will not only change Eurasia’s transport map, but also make an important contribution to deepening cooperation in the broader region.

The importance of repealing the 907th Amendment to the Freedom Support Act with regard to Azerbaijan was also emphasized, noting that this would serve the development of bilateral relations, the strengthening of mutual trust, and the expansion of cooperation opportunities.

Members of the professional staff of the majority of the U.S. House of Representatives Committee on Foreign Affairs, speaking at the meeting, expressed satisfaction that in recent times U.S.–Azerbaijan relations have entered a new stage of development, mutual cooperation has deepened, and interparliamentary dialogue has reached a new level. They stated that maintaining this positive dynamic is in the interests of both sides.
