“There was an agreement in 2020 on establishing a connection between Azerbaijan and Nakhchivan,” said Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov at a press conference on the results of the year, APA reports.
The minister noted that Armenia had taken no steps in this direction for a long time: “Azerbaijan immediately began work on the construction of a highway and a railway in this direction. By the end of next year, the railway passing through Azerbaijani territory will reach the border with Armenia.”
Bayramov also emphasized that the TRIPP route project is very important for the United States: “Work on the implementation of this project should also begin on the Armenian side. According to the information available to us, U.S. representatives responsible for this project are currently in talks with Armenia. This is being carried out in a bilateral format. We hope the work will accelerate. At the same time, both the entry and exit points of the TRIPP route are located on Azerbaijani territory. Without Azerbaijan’s cooperation, the implementation of this project is impossible. That is why we have presented our conditions and expectations in advance. We believe they will be taken into account.”
