MFA confirms death of Georgian citizen in explosion in Baku-UPDATED

Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Georgia has confirmed the death of a Georgian citizen as a result of an explosion in a furniture workshop in Baku, APA's Tbilisi correspondent reports.

In Ministry's statement to the local media, MFA stated that the contact has been made with the family members of the deceased person.

"The fact of the death of a Georgian citizen has been confirmed. The Georgian Embassy to the Republic of Azerbaijan is in contact with the family members of the deceased person," the Ministry noted.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Georgia issued a statement regarding the explosion in a workshop in Baku, APA's Tbilisi correspondent reports.

The statement reads that the Embassy of Georgia in Azerbaijan clarified the reports about the death of the Georgian citizen as a result of the explosion.

"According to the media reports, one of the dead is a citizen of Georgia. We are working to clarify the information," noted in the statement.

Noted that Georgia's Mtavari Arxi TV channel reported that one of the dead as a result of explosions is Sarraj Yusubov, a 35-year-old Georgian citizen from the Nakhiduri (Arikhli) village of Bolnisi.
