Meeting was held between Speaker of Milli Majlis and Speaker of Federal National Council of UAE

Today, Speaker of the Milli Majlis Sahiba Gafarova met with the Speaker of the Federal National Council of the United Arab Emirates, Saqr Ghobash, who is on an official visit to our country, the Press and Public Relations Department of the Milli Majlis told APA.

Speaker of the Milli Majlis expressed her gratitude for the high-level participation of the UAE delegation in the International Parliamentary Conference dedicated to the 30th anniversary of the adoption of the Constitution of the Republic of Azerbaijan on October 29, and for Saqr Ghobash’s meaningful address at the event.

The Speaker of Parliament highly appreciated the first official visit of the UAE Federal National Council’s Speaker to Azerbaijan, noting that this visit would make an important contribution to strengthening the friendly relations between the two countries, expanding cooperation opportunities, and deepening interparliamentary relations. Sahiba Gafarova recalled with satisfaction her official visit to the United Arab Emirates in May of this year, emphasizing the importance of the meetings held during the visit, the negotiations conducted, and the Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation signed between the parliaments.

Expressing his satisfaction with his first official visit to Azerbaijan and participation in the International Parliamentary Conference, Saqr Ghobash stressed that his country attaches great importance to developing relations with Azerbaijan. The guest shared his impressions of the meeting held with President Ilham Aliyev during the visit. He said that relations between the leaders of the countries, based on the principles of mutual respect, trust and sincere friendship, serve to further deepen the ties between two countries and peoples.

The guest positively assessed the high-level political and economic relations, and also emphasized the importance of deepening cooperation in the cultural and humanitarian spheres.

During the conversation, views were exchanged on the current state and development prospects of inter-parliamentary relations. Issues of further development of relations based on the Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation signed between the legislative bodies were considered.
