Meeting of GUAM MFA Council was held, chairmanship was transferred to Ukraine-UPDATED

20 December 2022, the 40th Meeting of the GUAM Council of Ministers for Foreign Affairs (CMFA) was held via videoconference under the Chairmanship of the Republic of Moldova, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs told APA.

Deputy Foreign Minister of the Republic of Azerbaijan Elnur Mammadov took part in the meeting chaired by the Acting Chairman of GUAM, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Moldova Nicolae Popescu.

At the meeting, Georgia was represented by Foreign Minister Ilia Darchiashvili and Ukraine by Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba.

20 December 2022, the 40th Meeting of the GUAM Council of Ministers for Foreign Affairs (CMFA) was held via videoconference under the Chairmanship of the Republic of Moldova, APA reports citing the official website of the organization.

The Council discussed issues of political interaction in the GUAM format, as well as inter-parliamentary, sectoral cooperation within the GUAM and cooperation with partner countries and international organizations.

The Council adopted the Decision on transferring the Chairmanship in the Organization for Democracy and Economic Development – GUAM to Ukraine and expressed its appreciation to the Moldovan Chairmanship for activities during its tenure. The Council also adopted the Decision on the approval of coordinating countries for the GUAM sectoral working groups during 2023-2024.
