"Azerbaijan is the only country that borders both Iran and Russia. This country is located in the center of a strategic region and its role in the former Soviet space is important," Mark Libby, candidate for US Ambassador to Azerbaijan, said in his speech during the hearings in the Senate, APA reports.
"Azerbaijan has done enough to assist Ukraine. Even after the most recent incident - the reservoir explosion - this country delivered a new assistance package to Ukraine. They supported the UN resolution denouncing the occupation and confirmed their support for Ukraine's territorial integrity. These are really interesting steps for a country located in the former Soviet region," Libby said.
