“The European Union and NATO will not turn a blind eye to threatening of member countries,” Latvian Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Defense Artis Pabriks.
“Russia is used lately in international relations to base their arguments not on intellectual discussions but on the blunt power. If they use such sentences, then they simply can do it. We can not stop them. If they would like to attack Latvia, or they want to attack Poland, or they want to attack US, if they really want they can do this. But they should remember that we are allies of NATO and members of the European Union. If someone is just threatening us, we are not turning a blind eye to it,” the minister stressed.
He noted that the WU and NATO will continue to support the Ukrainian people: “ This is blunt Russian aggression against Ukraine. We as responsible member of the international community we are standing firmly by Ukrainian people, we have a very huge solidarity. We see so many civilian casualties, they are bombing maternity houses, hospitals. We know that we also heard from your minister that Azerbaijanis also died in Ukraine. It has to stop. We do supply to Ukraine humanitarian assistance, and also weapon assistance. I believe it is a moral right to help people who are in need.”
