"Armenian armed forces still remain in Azerbaijan’s Karabakh economic region. So, I think this fact forces Azerbaijan to conduct military operations in Karabakh," said Igor Korotchenko, editor-in-chief of the Russian "Nasionalnaya Oborona" magazine in an interview with APA's Moscow correspondent.
According to him, the most effective scenario is for Azerbaijan to conduct a precise military operation against the armed forces of Armenia in Karabakh in order to achieve complete security: “Due to the large-scale provocations caused by the Armenian armed forces in the Karabakh economic region of Azerbaijan, the situation in the region remains extremely tense. Yes, Armenian armed forces still remain in Karabakh. They cause provocations with destructive actions. All these force Azerbaijan to conduct military operations in Karabakh. It forces Azerbaijan to look at the scenario of military action with precise "surgical procedure" and thus, to avoid the threat it sees against itself. Therefore, unfortunately, Azerbaijan conducting military operations besides the political and diplomatic means to bring Iran on the right path is inevitable. The conduct of the "Revenge" operation against every armed provocation of Armenia is the most effective scenario, I believe," a Russian military expert stressed.
Korotchenko also stressed that Azerbaijani diplomacy is working hard in all squares to reach a peace agreement with Armenia: "European diplomacy is working hard to achieve peace with Yerevan at a high level, both in Russia, Europe, and the United States. I would like to note that it will be difficult to hope to quickly conclude a peace agreement with Armenia without it giving up a revanchist intention and nationalist Nzhdeh ideology. But it is possible. It is necessary to make an effort. For this, delimitation and demarcation of the borders between Armenia and Azerbaijan should be carried out. Currently, the ball is in Yerevan's side. When the Armenian leadership abandons its past chauvinist and non-constructive policies, then peace will be possible. We are all waiting for it. We hope that peace between Baku and Yerevan will be real in 2023."
