A joint statement on the First Summit meeting of the leaders of Azerbaijan, Turkiye, and Turkmenistan held in Turkmenistan on December 14 was released, APA's Istanbul bureau reports citing Anadolu Agency.
In paragraph 1 of the statement, it was noted that the parties confirmed mutual respect and unshakable support for each other's independence, sovereignty, territorial integrity, and inviolability of internationally recognized borders.
In paragraph 3, the Republic of Turkiye and Turkmenistan, as members of the United Nations, congratulated the Republic of Azerbaijan on the occasion of the liberation of the occupied territories and the restoration of the country's territorial integrity.
In accordance with the 6 Article of the Document, the parties, as members of the United Nations, stressed the need to achieve a real and lasting solution to the problem on the island regarding the Cyprus issue on the basis of sovereign equality and equal international status of the two communities.
Moreover, the sides expressed their satisfaction with the decisions and results of the 9th Summit Meeting of the Organization of Turkic States held in Samarkand.
The three countries also agreed to further strengthen the existing legal base in order to strengthen economic cooperation.
Expressing the importance of developing cooperation in the field of energy, the heads of the three countries stressed the particular importance of the natural gas supply. For this purpose, the parties support joint activities and projects, including possible investments, the development of stable and reliable supply, and the transit of energy resources.
It was noted that the statement consists of 25 paragraphs. The document reflects the obligations of Turkiye, Turkmenistan, and Azerbaijan to comprehensively develop and deepen the interstate relations based on the closeness with a common history.
