"Belgian Foreign Minister noted that starting from January, the Kingdom of Belgium will chair the European Union (EU)," Minister of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan Jeyhun Bayramov told a joint briefing with Belgian counterpart Hadja Lahbib in Baku, APA reports.

With Belgium acting as chairman, and this also applies to other EU member states, we wish to look into the future so that we do not witness double standards against our country in the coming years. We are aware that a number of EU countries are sensitive to the promotion of separatism. We want to feel this sensitivity not only for Europe, but also for other regions, including the former post-Soviet area. That is, we want that before commenting on the steps taken by Azerbaijan, our colleagues from the EU should understand the essence of the issue and then give their opinion. The presentation of separatist tendencies and political manipulations by Armenia under the guise of humanitarian issues should not be easily accepted by our European colleagues,” the Azerbaijani FM added.
