Jeyhun Bayramov: Reflection of respect to territorial integrity and sovereignty in real discussions is important for progress in process

“Extensive discussions were held over the regional issues during the meeting today,” said Minister of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan Jeyhun Bayramov as he gave a joint briefing with Belgian counterpart Hadja Lahbib in Baku, APA reports.

“The Azerbaijani government's views regarding the new opportunities created in the region during the post-conflict period. The fact that the steps taken in the issue of concluding a peace treaty between Armenia and Azerbaijan were the initiative of the leader of Azerbaijan, that the 5 basic principles that form the core of the peace treaty were presented by Azerbaijan in 2022, and that the preliminary draft of the peace treaty was prepared and presented by Azerbaijan in the first round of negotiations in October 2022 was brought to the Belgian Foreign Minister’s attention," FM Bayramov added.

According to Jeyhun Bayramov, the key point is that after the end of the occupation, in accordance with the norms and principles of international law, reflection of countries’ mutual respect to the territorial integrity and sovereignty not only in words and statements but also in real discussions is important for the progress in the process.

“The Azerbaijani side takes all the necessary steps in this direction,” the Minister added.
