Jeyhun Bayramov holds a phone conversation with the Gulf Cooperation Council Secretary-General

On April 18, 2023, a phone conversation was held between the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Jeyhun Bayramov, and the Secretary General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), Jasem Albudaiwi, Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry told APA.

During the telephone conversation, the issues on the current agenda of cooperation between Azerbaijan and GCC, as well as the prospects for the development of relations, were discussed.

Minister Jeyhun Bayramov congratulated Jasem Albudaiwi on the occasion of his appointment as the General Secretary of GCC and wished him success in his work.

Speaking about the existence of Azerbaijan's relations with the GCC member states based on mutual respect, support and solidarity, Minister Jeyhun Bayramov noted that these relations promote mutually beneficial cooperation within the framework of the GCC. Noting that the signing of the ”Memorandum of Understanding on the mechanism of consultations between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the GCC General Secretariat" made an important contribution to the development of relations between Azerbaijan and the GCC, Minister Jeyhun Bayramov emphasized the importance of mutual contacts and dialogue in order to discuss the next steps.

Minister Jeyhun Bayramov, referring with satisfaction to the prospects of jointly implemented projects in the economic field, as well as the results of the joint business forums held between Azerbaijan and GCC, pointed out that it is necessary to use the existing potential in the direction of further development of cooperation in the field of investments.

Jasem Albudaiwi spoke with satisfaction about the existence of many common values that unite the member states of the GCC and Azerbaijan, and said that he will spare no efforts in the direction of further development of relations during his tenure as the Secretary-General.

The sides expressed their sincere congratulations to each other on the occasion of the upcoming Ramadan holiday and wished that this holy holiday would bring peace to the entire Islamic world.

During the phone conversation, opinions were also exchanged on other issues of mutual interest.
