“During the meeting, we also exchanged views on the recent processes around the Lachin-Khankandi road," said Minister of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan Jeyhun Bayramov as he gave a joint briefing with Belgian counterpart Hadja Lahbib in Baku, APA reports.
"I informed the Belgian Foreign Minister about illegal use of the Lachin-Khankandi road by Armenia over the past two and a half years and its illegal activities despite numerous calls from Azerbaijan. I informed that, finally, using its sovereign rights, Azerbaijan established the Lachin border checkpoint, thereby ensuring that the crossing was carried out transparently and in line with the rules,” the Minister added.
Jeyhun Bayramov noted that Armenia, not being able to accept all these, commits a number of military and political provocations. “Azerbaijani government takes constructive steps. The border checkpoint continues its operation today. Based on the requests of the International Committee of the Red Cross, there are crossings in both directions, and the crossing of the residents is being carried out at the request of the Russian Peacekeeping Contingent," the Azerbaijani FM added.
