Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov attended and addressed the event dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the birth of Heydar Aliyev, the National Leader of the Azerbaijani people, on the sidelines of the ministerial meeting of the Coordination Bureau of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM), the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry told APA.
During the event held with the participation of the leaders of the delegations attending the ministerial meeting of the Non-Aligned Movement's Coordination Bureau, in addition to Minister Jeyhun Bayramov, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Türkiye Hakan Fidan and Budimir Lončar, the former Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia, who personally participated in the Bandung Conference where the Non-Aligned Movement was established, delivered speeches.
Minister Jeyhun Bayramov spoke extensively in his address on the multifaceted and dedicated activities of the Great Leader Heydar Aliyev, the founder of modern and independent Azerbaijan, in the direction of establishing and maintaining the foundation of our statehood.
Despite the challenging situation, refugee and internally displaced persons issues, as well as the economic and social crisis resulting from Armenia's military aggression against Azerbaijan following the restoration of our country's independence, the National Leader, as he himself said, Azerbaijan has successfully achieved eternal, permanent, and irreversible independence.
It is noted that the foreign policy course, established by the Great Leader Heydar Aliyev, continues successfully under the presidency of Mr. Ilham Aliyev, the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan. Attention is drawn to the fact that our foreign policy aims to promote mutually beneficial cooperation, uphold international peace and security. In this regard, it is emphasized that safeguarding the Azerbaijani people's national interests, our country's sovereignty, and territorial integrity have always been the priorities of our foreign policy.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Türkiye, Hakan Fidan, who delivered a speech, noted that amidst the increasing tension in the international arena and the violation of the fundamental norms and principles of international law, the Republic of Türkiye remains committed to the core principles of the Movement.
The exceptional contributions of the visionary figure who described the brotherhood between Türkiye and Azerbaijan as "One Nation, Two States," the National Leader Heydar Aliyev, in the preservation and strengthening of Azerbaijan's statehood, are commemorated.
Budimir Lončar, the former Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia, who personally participated in the Bandung Conference where the foundations of the Non-Aligned Movement were laid, expressed gratitude for the invitation to the ministerial meeting of the Non-Aligned Movement's Coordination Bureau as a special guest during his speech at the event. The exceptional role of the National Leader Heydar Aliyev in the economic and social development of Azerbaijan, as well as in strengthening its relations with regional and global countries, and enhancing the international influence of the Republic of Azerbaijan, has been emphasized.
Later, the participants of the event watched a video dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the birth of the Great Leader Heydar Aliyev.
