“Government of Japan has always wanted to provide support to demining process in Azerbaijan,” said Japanese Ambassador to Azerbaijan Junichi Wada at the signing ceremony of grant agreement at the Embassy of Japan in Azerbaijan between the International Eurasian Press Foundation and the embassy on the project "Provision of Demining Equipment for the Tartar region", APA reports.
Then a grant agreement on the relevant project has been signed.
The main purpose of this project is by providing 11 mine detectors, 11 sets of protective clothing, and 1 pickup produced by the Japanese company Mitsubishi for use in clearing mines and unexploded ordnance in the Tartar region, to accelerate the clearing activity of mines and unexploded ordnance in Azerbaijan and ensuring safer condition in Tartar region. Japan embassy will assist in the amount of USD 88,224 (about AZN 149,098) for purchasing equipment envisaged in the project.
