Israel’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Gideon Saar, who is on a visit to Azerbaijan, has met with leaders of the Jewish community in Baku, the Israeli foreign minister said in a social media post, APA reports.

“Today, alongside the country’s Muslim population, around 30,000 Jews live in Azerbaijan in an atmosphere of mutual respect, with religious tolerance and freedom of worship ensured.

For generations, Azerbaijan has been an example and a model of a Muslim-majority country that has provided the Jewish community with a prosperous and safe life.

I believe in the relations between the two countries. The large Jewish community that has moved to Israel and the Jews who remain in Azerbaijan serve as a strong human bridge for increasingly strengthening relations in many fields. We will continue to strengthen these ties,” the foreign minister noted.
