“Those who were injured as a result of mine explosion should be provided with all assistance, their long term needs should be considered,” said Ariane Bauer, Head of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) office in Azerbaijan, APA reports.
She reminded ICRC works in the fields such as evaluating risks, conducting various training in communities, aid to mine victims, etc.
“ICRC supports 330 physical rehabilitation centers in 26 countries. We are providing direct aid to the victims. It helps develop a national strategy of countries. At the same time, persons with disability face serious problems.”
Ariane Bauer noted that the majority of mine victims are men.
“Civilian victims of mine explosions are mostly men in Azerbaijan. They are heads of families, and meet the financial needs of their families and in that case, financial difficulties occur in their families. We have provided financial assistance to these families. 80 percent of mine victims got financial aid from ICRC. We are also ready to support ANAMA.”
