Hikmet Hajiyev: "We encourage US companies to invest in liberated territories"

"Energy security is an important component of US-Azerbaijani cooperation," said Hikmet Hajiyev, Assistant to the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan - Head of the Foreign Policy Department of the Presidential Administration of the Republic of Azerbaijan at the webinar "30 years of US-Caspian Diplomatic Relations" organized by the Caspian Policy Center.

He said that the support of the US government and the active participation of US companies allow Azerbaijan to export its hydrocarbon resources independently and directly to international markets: “Azerbaijan is the largest US investor in the South Caucasus, amounting to about $ 19 billion. About 300 US companies operate in Azerbaijan. Azerbaijan also encourages investment in the US economy. But we need to do more to expand economic and trade ties. Restoration of the liberated territories is a priority for the Azerbaijani government. We also encourage US companies to invest (in the liberated areas) and to take a more active part in supporting the Azerbaijani government's efforts to rebuild, rehabilitate and rehabilitate these areas. We have an obligation to build 7 new cities from the rubble, everything has been destroyed in the liberated areas.

Hajiyev noted that Azerbaijan is moving from a security-based foreign policy concept to an economic policy concept by addressing a key security challenge.
