The Jewish community is a part of the Azerbaijani society. We’re proud that there has been no case of anti-Semitism in the history of Azerbaijan,” Assistant to President of Azerbaijan-Head of Foreign Policy Affairs Department of the Presidential Administration Hikmat Hajiyev said as he was interviewed by i24NEWS TV channel of Israel, APA reports.
Hikmat Hajiyev noted that the contribution of the Jewish community to the flourishing development of Azerbaijan's culture and statehood is highly valued.
"During World War 2, Azerbaijan accepted many Jewish refugees escaping religious persecution in Europe. The Jewish community is such a part of our society; we made sure to share our bread during difficult times."
Hikmat Hajiyev said that the Jewish community living in Azerbaijan contributes significantly to the strengthening of bilateral cooperation between the two countries.
