"30 years of US-Azerbaijani relations is a success story in terms of developing friendship and cooperation between the two countries," said Hikmet Hajiyev, Assistant to the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan - Head of the Foreign Policy Department of the Presidential Administration of the Republic of Azerbaijan at the webinar "30 years of US-Caspian Diplomatic Relations" organized by the Caspian Policy Center.
Hajiyev noted that after the September 11, 2001 terrorist attack, Azerbaijan provided military and logistical support in the fight launched by the United States.
The history of relations and friendship between our countries is very well explained in Ambassador Hafiz Pashayev's book "Manifesto of an Ambassador". US support for Azerbaijan strengthens the sovereignty and independence of our country. It was confirmed that this support is an important component of regional security. Over the years, US-Azerbaijani cooperation has risen to new levels. The events of September 11 were a turning point in US-Azerbaijani cooperation. As we have always said, a friend is known in a difficult day. Azerbaijan also joined the anti-terrorist alliance and provided its logistical support.
Aide to the President noted that with the support of Azerbaijani military forces in Afghanistan, Azerbaijani and US soldiers fought shoulder to shoulder against terrorism.
Hajiyev stressed that another operation carried out by Azerbaijani and US troops against terrorism was the Iraqi mission.
